Simone & the Jupiter String Quartet Kick-Off the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center Season
Adelphi University Performing Arts Center is proud to present the internationally-renowned Jupiter String Quartet as part of the 2011-2012 guest artist “Masters” series, and Broadway star and recording artist Simone as part of the 2011-2012 guest artist “Spotlight” series. The Jupiter String Quartet will perform on Friday, September 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the acoustically state-of-the-art Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (AU PAC) Concert Hall, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. Simone’s debut Long Island concert will take place on Saturday, September 24, at 8:00 p.m. also in the AU PAC Concert Hall. Highlights of the gala opening night of Elon University’s production of “The Phantom of the Opera.” Elon’s Department of Performing Arts was selected by R&H Theatricals, a division of The Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization, as one of six schools in the nation to produce pilot productions in anticipation of the show’s eventual release into the community, regional and school theatrical market.

GARDEN CITY, NY, February 2011—From March 8 through March 13, the Department of Theatre at Adelphi University presents the Tony Award-winning play The Crucible by Arthur Miller, directed by Professor and Chair of the Department of Theatre Nicholas Petron M.A. ‘70, in the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center Black Box Theatre, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. Winner of the 1953 Tony Award for Best Play, The Crucible is the most frequently produced work from Miller’s impressive repertoire. Performance Artist Jeff Grow Brings Magic to Adelphi University on December 1, 2010
Award-winning magician Jeff Grow will present his one man show, Jeff Grow: The Art of the Con, at the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (AU PAC), 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. His new magic show features an evening of conniving tricks that bring the audience into the magical world he creates on stage. As the winner of two 2009 Innovative Theatre Awards (IT Awards), Mr. Grow’s engaging personality and con artistry will leave audience members in a state of wonder. Whether Jeff is entertaining guests with intimate sleight of hand miracles or presenting stage magic for hundreds, he does not just puzzle his guests, but rather leaves them delighted.

Belmont University Musical Theatre Department presents RAGTIME in Fall 2008. “Till We Reach That Day” is the act 1 closer to Ragtime, the musical by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. It features the entire ensemble of the production which is Belmont’s musical theatre majors. The soloists in this clip are: featured soloist: Piper Jones (’12) as Sarah’s Friend [Piper is a Commercial Music Major at Belmont U] Deonte Warren (’10) as Coalhouse Walker, Jr. Jessica Blair (’09) as Emma Goldman Kara Farmer (’09) as Mother James Lombardino (’09) as Tateh Ragtime is a part of Belmont University’s series on The Art of Being Free. The performances took place in Massey Performing Arts Center on November 21-23, 2008 in Nashville, TN.
